Prosperity Commons
Supportive Housing Community
Prosperity Commons is NCGDI's flagship supportive housing initiative — a multi-phase campus dedicated to providing safe, affordable, and recovery-focused housing for men transitioning from homelessness, incarceration, and substance-use recovery.
This community is being developed as a comprehensive supportive housing and workforce pathway campus, designed to offer code-compliant housing, stabilization environments, wraparound services, and eventually an on-site workforce development hub.

Veterans Village
Affordable Housing
Veterans Village Phase 1 is an affordable housing development creating 36 stick-built units across three City of Winston-Salem–owned parcels — Willie Davis Dr, Ebert St, and Salem Crest Ln — designed as permanent supportive housing for homeless veterans.
This development is part of a larger 150+ bed regional vision for veteran supportive housing across the Piedmont Triad, funded through CDBG, HOME entitlement grants, and VA Grant Per Diem (GPD).
Project Highlights:
- 36 stick-built affordable units across 3 city parcels
- Permanent supportive housing for homeless veterans
- City of Winston-Salem AHD Case #18525
- CDBG ($305K applied), HOME, and VA GPD funding
- HUD-VASH voucher integration for qualified veterans
- Phase 1 of a 150+ bed regional veteran housing campus
Workforce Pathways
& Economic Mobility Program
This program will be housed at Prosperity Commons and will provide residents with structured employment pathways — transitioning individuals from recovery and stability into sustainable work and long-term economic independence.
Future Program Components:
- Skilled trades training — construction, electrical fundamentals, tool safety
- Remote work and digital job readiness
- Resume coaching, interviewing, and job placement support
- Case management for employment stability
- Life skills and financial literacy workshops
- On-the-job training and apprenticeship pathways
