NC Growth & Development Initiative delivers affordable housing, supportive services, and economic mobility pathways for individuals and families facing housing insecurity, recovery transitions, re-entry challenges, and economic barriers across North Carolina.

Program 01

Affordable Housing Development

We develop, acquire, and preserve affordable housing to ensure that safe, stable homes are available to individuals and families throughout North Carolina. Housing is the foundation for every other life transformation.

What This Program Includes:

  • Developing new affordable housing units across North Carolina
  • Supporting recovery-oriented and supportive housing communities
  • Partnering with municipalities and property owners
  • Ensuring all units are code-compliant and safety-focused
  • Coordinating stable placements for vulnerable individuals
  • Applying for CDBG, HOME, VA GPD, and AHD funding

Supportive Housing & Recovery Pathways

Stable housing is just the start. Many residents require support as they rebuild their lives, navigate recovery, or transition from homelessness or incarceration. Through trusted community partners, residents gain access to comprehensive wraparound support.

Workforce Pathways & Economic Mobility

At Prosperity Commons and other locations, we are developing a comprehensive workforce and economic mobility program designed to help residents transition from recovery to sustainable employment and long-term independence.

  • Skilled trades training — construction, electrical fundamentals, tool safety
  • Digital literacy and remote work readiness
  • Resume development and interview coaching
  • Job placement assistance and employer connections
  • On-the-job training and apprenticeship pathways
  • Financial literacy and life-skills workshops
  • Employment stability coaching
