Our Programs & Services

NC Growth & Development Initiative (NCGDI) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to expanding affordable housing, supportive services, and economic mobility across North Carolina. We work to create pathways from crisis to stability — and from stability to long-term independence.

Our programs serve individuals and families facing housing insecurity, recovery transitions, re-entry challenges, and economic barriers.

Affordable Housing Development

We develop, acquire, and preserve affordable housing to ensure that safe, stable homes are available to individuals and families throughout North Carolina.

Our work includes:

  • Developing new affordable housing units

  • Supporting recovery-oriented and supportive housing communities

  • Partnering with municipalities and property owners

  • Ensuring all units are code-compliant and safety-focused

  • Coordinating stable placements for vulnerable individuals

Housing is the foundation for every other life transformation — and we are committed to expanding access where it is needed most.

Supportive Housing & Recovery Pathways

Stable housing is just the start. Many residents require support as they rebuild their lives, navigate recovery, or transition from homelessness or incarceration.

Through trusted community partners, residents gain access to:

  • Case management and individualized support

  • Recovery and re-entry resources

  • Mental health referrals

  • Transportation assistance

  • Life-skills and wellness support

  • Peer mentorship and community integration

This program empowers residents to stabilize, heal, and move toward long-term independence.

Workforce Pathways & Economic Mobility (Coming Soon)

At Prosperity Commons and other locations, we are developing a comprehensive workforce and economic mobility program designed to help residents transition from recovery to employment.

This initiative, launching as funding becomes available, will include:

  • Skilled trades training (construction, electrical fundamentals, tool safety)

  • Digital literacy and remote work readiness

  • Resume and interview coaching

  • Job placement assistance

  • On-the-job training and apprenticeship pathways

  • Financial literacy and life-skills workshops

  • Employment stability and success coaching

This program will become a cornerstone of our mission — connecting residents to sustainable income and long-term opportunity.

Landlord & Community Housing Partnerships

To expand the number of affordable housing units available, NCGDI partners with landlords, real estate investors, and property managers across North Carolina.

Through these partnerships, we provide:

  • Guaranteed rent options

  • Reliable, long-term tenancy

  • Tenant support and coaching

  • Vacancy reduction

  • Professional communication and issue resolution

  • Community impact opportunities for property owners

By partnering with NCGDI, landlords help strengthen communities while maintaining stable and predictable rental income.

We ensure residents have access to the resources they need to thrive.

Through our service provider network, we connect individuals to:

  • Recovery programming and support groups

  • Peer support and mentorship
